Raymond's Obituary

Raymond Hoge, 83, of Baroda, MI passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday 10:00 am September 15, 2016 at Zion United Church of Christ, 9105 Third St., in Baroda with Pastor Chris Noffke officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 with Masonic Rites at 7:30 P.M., at Starks and Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Chicago or St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com.  Raymond was born October, 26, 1932 in Stevensville, MI to Paul & Bertha (Lucker) Hoge. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Raymond married the love of his life, Lela Stephens on February 19, 1955 in Baroda, MI. He was a lifetime member of the Carpenters Union Local #525 retiring from Pearson Construction Company as a Job Superintendent. Raymond was a lifetime member of Zion United Church of Christ in Baroda, an active member of Masonic Lodge #298 and in the Baroda American Legion post 345, where he served as chaplain for several years. He was also a member of the Berrien County Shrine Club, where he served as a driver for the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Chicago. Raymond loved to golf and play cards, especially euchre.  Raymond is survived by his wife Lela Hoge of 61 years; children, Robert (Kathy) Hoge, Richard (Julianne) Hoge and Susan (Dan Clark) Hoge; grandchildren, Robert (Barbi) Hoge, Christopher (Michele) Hoge, Leah Hoge, Ian (Heather) Hoge, Jason Hoge, Jamie (J.R.) Gaul, Kate (Adam) Wheaton; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Caldwell, Roberta (Jerry) Mitchell and Barbara (Ivan) Layman.  Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Paul & Bertha Hoge, son John Hoge and 12 siblings.
