Jane Florence Kolberg

Jane Florence Kolberg, 80, of St. Joseph passed away at her home on Thursday July 7, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan.  Friends may leave a message at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jane was born at home in Stevensville, Michigan, on September 6, 1935 to William & Hattie (Grieger) Kolberg.  Her family moved to Buchanan, MI where she graduated from Buchanan High School.  After graduation she started as a part-time employee at Inter-City Bank in Buchanan and moved up the ladder.  Jane moved from Buchanan to Benton Harbor, then to St. Joseph, following her rise in responsibilities at Chemical Bank to executive secretary to the president.  Jane’s dedication to Chemical Bank and her caring for her Mother were commendable and beyond compare.  Jane, after more than 30 years at Chemical Bank, retired and spent her remaining years mentoring nephews & nieces financially, working in her yard and making her community a better place to live. Jane was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions football and Detroit Tigers baseball teams of which she spent numerous hours listening to all games on the radio. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.  Jane is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Wayne Kolberg, three sisters Joyce Schmidt, Jean (House) Leda, and Joan Kolberg.
