Bruno's Obituary

Bruno Max Haase, 94, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully at Caretel Inns of Lakeland on Saturday, July 9, 2016. A service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 16, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph,  with Rev. Brett Ehlke officiating.  Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may call from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville, of which he was a member, or Hospice at Home. Bruno was born on February 21, 1922 in Lippenze, Germany to Otto and Emma Haase.  On October 28, 1950, he married Else (Fech) in Zechin, East Germany. In 1953 they escaped to West Germany and immigrated to America in 1961, settling in Chicago, and then in December 1993 moved to Stevensville, Mi. Bruno is survived by his four children, Erhard (Ursula) Kriese of Germany, Erika (Artur-Deceased) Lucius of Stevensville, Gertrud (Detlef) Lang of Arizona, and Doris (Arthur) Glazer of Illinois; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Henning (Noura) Kriese and his son Patrick; Bernd (Rebecca) Lucius and their children Brittany and Brandon, Ralph (Kristine) Lucius and their sons Joshua and Dorian; Anita Lang and her daughters Siena and Sophia, Andrew (Christina) Lang and their children Coral and Reef, Debra (Douglas) Baumann, Timothy (Lore) Lang;  Megan, Daniel, Sarah and Jonathan Glazer. And also his cousin Ruth in Germany who is like a sister to him.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Else, his parents and many cousins that he was very close to and grew up with as a child in Germany. Bruno will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He always enjoyed sharing funny stories from the past, especially with his grandchildren! A brick mason by trade, he loved working with his hands…always there for his family to lend a hand! He will be dearly missed by all!
