Dorothy “Dot” M. Swikoski, 98, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 5, 2016 at St. Gabriel Catholic Mission, 429 Rose Hill Rd., Berrien Springs with Fr. Leonel Cartagena officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Pickford, Michigan. Memorials may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Mission. Those wishing to share a memory of Dot online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Dot was born May 26, 1918 in Gas City, Indiana to William & Florence (Ludwig) Thomas. She graduated Madison High School in Ohio in 1936. In June of 1938 she married her first husband, Jack Yoha, who preceded her in death in April 1977. On June 7, 1987, Dot married Stanley Swikoski at St. Gabriel Catholic Mission in Berrien Springs. Dot was an avid golfer and one year she won the Sault Ste. Marie Country Club Ladies League Golf Championship. She enjoyed bingo, attending Concerts on the Bluff and traveling. Dot loved to cheer on and watch her favorite teams; the Cubs, Arizona Diamond Backs and Notre Dame. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Dot is survived by her loving husband, Stan Swikoski; daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Gervais; step-son, Robert (Patti) Swikoski; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Dot was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Yoha; children, Ora A. Yoha, Thomas G. Yoha and Joseph J. Yoha; grandson Jeffery Yoha, and siblings Betty Morgan, Robert Thomas and Donna Nemtuda.
