William Paul “Bill” Spilger, 81 years old, of Baroda, Michigan departed his earthly life to enter his eternal home on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Healthwin Special Care in South Bend, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Avenue, Baroda with Pastor Brad Ross officiating. Friends may also visit Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial to follow at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda. Friends may visit at his wake on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Bill was born February 13. 1935 in Baroda, Michigan to George and Hattie (Schadler) Spilger. He was a 1952 graduate of Baroda High School. He worked at Bendix Corporation for more than 30 years setting up machinery and also Allied Signal [now Honeywell] for 3 years. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baroda. He also was an active member of St. Joseph Elks 541 and the Baroda American Legion 345. He enjoyed collecting coins and scrapbooking. He was an avid fan watching high school, college or professional sports. Bill was a home wine maker for most of his adult life. He was also well known for his crock cured dill pickles and his hot mixed vegetables. Bill is survived by his son Dr. Steven (Wai Mun) Spilger of Granger, Indiana; daughter Lori (Jeffery) Yates of Sutton, Massachusetts and grandchildren Zoe Yates, Alyson Liew-Spilger & Andreana Liew-Spilger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son Alan Spilger on November 17, 2013 and brothers Donald Spilger, Robert Spilger and George Spilger.
