Robert Arthur Byers

Robert “Bob” A. Byers, 81, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, with Chaplain Scott Labbe officiating. Bob was born August 23, 1934 in Benton Harbor, MI to Ralph & Florence (Lingo) Byers. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School. Bob proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army from 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1959. He worked as a sales representative on the west coast for Clark Equipment for 23 years before retiring. Bob enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his best friends BJ & Timmy.  He is survived by his daughter Ginger Byers of Stevensville; son Jeff (Paula) Byers of Los Angeles, CA; significant other of 25 years Sue Ellison of Benton Harbor; sisters Norma Molter of Maryland, Dorothy Brandau of CA, and Carol (Charles) Sirk of Chicago; brother Fred Byers of Villages, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Delores Payne and brother Thomas Byers.
