Geneva Maxine Russell

Geneva Maxine Russell, 89, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stevensville, MI.  A Private Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Russell Family in C/O Terry Russell. Those wishing to share a memory of Maxine online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Maxine was born June 6, 1926 in Manila, AR., to Oscar & Gwendolyn (Decker) McWhirter. She married Robert L. Russell in Benton Harbor, MI. Maxine was the owner of Apollo Bar in Benton Harbor with her late husband. Maxine loved rose gardening and working in her yard. She enjoyed southern cooking, family fish frys, and a hot cup of tea. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren attending their sporting events. Maxine was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan and enjoyed her cats and dogs. Anyone that knew her loved her and she will be greatly missed by her family.  Maxine is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Burger; son, Terry Russell; daughter-in-law Barbara Bouwman; three grandchildren, Rhonda Fredricks, Shaun Russell, and Erin Russell; three great-grandchildren Jamie Boone, Renee Talmadge and Rebecca Pletz; five great great-grandchildren Landon, Katelyn, Kourtney, Jay Jay, and Makaylah. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson Bobby Burger.
