Geneva L. Gersonde, 97, of North Fort Myers, FL, passed away December 7, 2015 in Grand Blanc, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Dwight K. Nelson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Fort Myers Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3451 Ortiz Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 33905 or Cross Street Christian School Adopt- A- Student Program, 2318 West Cross St., Anderson, IN 46011. Geneva was born August 22, 1918 in College Hill, KY to Joe & Docie Ginter. She graduated from Manning Beauty College in Kentucky. On July 17, 1943, she married William E. Gersonde. Geneva worked as a beautician, a seamstress and in retail sales for many years. She was active in her church and enjoyed family and especially her granddaughters; sewing and reading. She also enjoyed traveling and golfing with her husband during their retirement in Florida.
Geneva is survived by her daughter Janis (Gary) Newberry of Fenton, MI; grand-daughters Lisa Newberry and fiancé W. Brooks Rhodes of Anderson, IN, and Sarah (Keith) Bayer of Kettering, OH; great-granddaughter Madison Bayer of Kettering, OH; brother Ronald J. (Mary Jane) Ginter of Richmond, KY; sisters-in-law Kathryn Kempf of St. Joseph and Julieanne Little of Stevensville; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 2005, brother Rucker Ginter, and sisters Christine Dunn and Clara Campbell.
