Lois Mae Sterk

Lois Mae Hendrickson Sterk, 95, of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be with her Lord on May 10, 2016 in Stevensville, MI. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building) 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM before the service.   Memorial donations may be made in Lois’s name to Hospice of Holland 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423 or Hospice at Home 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 She was born November 23, 1920 in Grand Rapids, MI to John and Alma (Sahr) Hendrickson. She lived her entire life in the Grand Rapids area.  Lois waited to find just the right man, in Friesland, WI.  She married Frank Sterk on May 19, 1953 in Grand Rapids, MI.  They had enjoyed 51 years of marriage when Frank passed in January 2005. Lois was raised in a family of girls. She never wanted to try to raise boys, but God had a good laugh and gave her three sons.  She then looked forward to having granddaughters.  God laughed some more and gave her 10 grandsons.  She couldn’t be prouder of them and prayed for them every day of their lives. Lois is survived by two sons Steve (Ann) Sterk of St. Joseph, MI and Doug (Jenny) Sterk of Savannah, GA; a daughter-in-law Karen Sterk of McBain, MI; ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Frank; son Dave and sisters, Ann Koen and Donna Mansen.
