Lillian's Obituary

Lillian Yircott 91, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 22 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lillian’s name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.  Those wishing to share a message or memory may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.  The family wishes to thank James Busby for the years of caregiving that he provided Lillian as well as the staff at Caretel Inns for the care they provided to her during her time there. Lil was born on January 22, 1925, the youngest of eleven children, to Ida (Klann) and Frederick Schalon.  She married E.G. (Bud) Yircott on September 4, 1949, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage together.  She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing golf, bowling and gardening.  She retired from Whirlpool in 1988 as an executive secretary.  She was most proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren, Kevin and Katherine. She is survived by her son Jeff (Sarah) Yircott of St. Joseph, grandson Kevin of Royal Oak, MI and granddaughter Katherine of Chicago, IL.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, in 2007, her parents, brothers Henry, Herbert, Eric, Arthur, Lawrence, Frederick, Edward, and Reinhold, and sisters Margaret Woodward and Arlene Moore.
