Hazel “Anita” Dienes, 76, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Fr. Michael Rejent officiating. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Area Agency on Aging or Hanson Hospice Center. Anita was born June 28, 1939 in Newport, Arkansas to Vannie and Irene (Ballard) Timmons. She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1957. On February 15, 1958, she married Ralph Dienes in Watervliet. Anita was one of the founding members of the Michiana Bird Society. Although unable to attend meetings Anita was still very passionate about the societies causes as well as an enthusiast of all avian species. Rudy and Mickey were her favorites. Her love of flowers and gardening showed her artistic abilities each year in her beautiful gardens. Anita, in her early years also raised and showed champion cocker spaniels under the Kennel name of Ranita’s. In the last years Anita was blessed with her companion Gracie (cat) who meant the world to her. Anita was very proud to be one of the first women members of the Baroda Lions.
Anita is survived by her five children, Randy (Donna) Dienes, Steve Dienes, Jeff (Sue) Dienes, Kim (Michael) Cozzi and Scott (Amy) Dienes; eight grandchildren, Andrea, Jennifer, Heather, Jessica, Sarah, Holly (Kevin), Jason (Amanda) and Simon; five great grandchildren, Tyler, Harley, Logan, Lyla, and Ella; and brother, Terry Timmons. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, sister Mary Beth Timmons and brothers Donald & Jim Timmons.
