Alice Mary Pantilla, 94, passed away peacefully Friday, May 20, 2016 at Golden Age Manor in Stevensville, MI.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial following at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hollywood Gardens, located at Hollywood Elementary School, in care of Starks & Menchinger Chapel. Those wishing to share a memory of Alice may do so online at

Alice was born in St. Joseph on July 28, 1921 to Guy & Gertrude (Voss) Corteville and has lived in St. Joseph her entire life. In 1962 she married Francis Pantilla and they became a blended family with 6 children. She was a gifted seamstress and worked for many years at Grace B. Pauley and Dotty’s, and alterations out of her home. She created beautiful custom clothing for her children and grandchildren, not to mention their many last minute fixes. She also enjoyed knitting and gardening. Alice was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Benton Harbor where she was active in the Ladies Guild.
Alice is survived by her children, Michael Ferguson (Amelia James) of Chicago, IL and Kathy (Al) Kasewurm of Stevensville, Dawn (Steve) Consolino of Coloma, LaVonne (Dave) White of Traverse City, Bekki VandenBurg of Benton, AK and Rhonda (Jerry) Forystek of Johnsburg, IL; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Golden Age Manor who took wonderful care of her and Hospice who helped in those final days. She is now in the comfort of heaven.
