Arthur Podjan, 87, of Benton Harbor passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until 11 AM at the church. A private burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens at a later date. Arthur was born on December 1, 1928 to Henry and Mary (Rothler) Podjan in Benton Harbor. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. Arthur was united in marriage to Rosalyn Mucia on October 29, 1949 at St. John’s Rectory in Benton Harbor. He was employed with Whirlpool Corp. for forty-three years and also worked for Sears as a garage mechanic. Arthur loved to watch old western movies and to dance, especially the polka. He played for the Whirlpool softball team and was an avid U of M fan. His favorite times were spent with his family. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rosalyn Podjan; four children, Michael (Lora) Podjan Sr. of Holland, MI, Daniel (Carol) Podjan of Sarasota, FL, Marianne (Richard) Willming of St. Joseph, MI and Larry (Sonja) Podjan of Watervliet, MI; nine grandchildren, Christie, Michael II, Matthew, Jennifer, Staci, Andrew, Ashley, David and Joshua; thirteen great-grandchildren and two dear friends Edward Palma and Bill Rauh.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and two brothers.
