Rose's Obituary

A sweet angel, Rose Elaine Simaz 81, of Eau Claire, entered peacefully to heaven on Friday, May 13. Rose was born in St. Joseph on December 1, 1934 to Frank and Margaret Eiserman. Rose was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was bright with a quick wit and terrific sense of humor. She was valedictorian of her class at St. Joseph Catholic High School. Her family was her pride and joy. Rose and Al raised seven children. She loved spending time with them, especially holidays, wrestling tournaments, concerts, plays and sporting events. She was proud of all and never missed an opportunity to show that. Her grandchildren were her opus! She was a wonderful cook and everyone loved her chicken and noodles at Sunday dinner. Rose had a great love and appreciation for classical music and she passed that on to her grandchildren. She was a talented pianist and played the organ at Sacred Heart of Mary church and St. Joseph church in Watervliet for many years. Rose was a school secretary for many years with Eau Claire schools and North Berrien Community Education. She was loved and respected by all who worked with her. She loved feeding the hummingbirds, tending to her “Beatsie” garden, cheering on the Notre Dame Football team and the Chicago Cubs. Rose and Al took in several teenagers when raising their own children that needed a temporary place to stay. She had a heart of gold. Rose had a rock solid faith and was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 10 am at Sacred Heart of Mary Church at 51841 Leach Rd. Dowagiac Michigan. Visitation will take place at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service on Friday, May 20 from 5 to 8 pm with rosary at 7:30 at 2650 Niles Ave. St. Joseph, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Church or Hanson Hospice Center. Rose is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert Simaz; five sons, Tony  Simaz of St. Joseph, John (Diane) Simaz of Big Rapids, Joe (Annette) Simaz of Fennville, Bill (Jeanne) Simaz of Grand Haven, and Mike (Caroline) Simaz of Traverse City; two daughters, Susan (Jim) Rundborg of DeWitt and Judy (Doug) Smith of Sturgis; seventeen grandchildren, Katie Simaz, Jenny Simaz, Alison(Ray) Johnson, Carly (Jared) Thompson, Eric Simaz, Cam Simaz, Taylor Simaz, Kyle Simaz, Christopher Simaz, Olivia Simaz, Alex Smith, Max (Laura) Smith, Ellie Smith, Maggie Smith, Maria Simaz, Daniel Simaz, and Andrew Simaz; and great grand-daughter, Lily Rose Johnson.
