Ewald Warneboldt, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at The Willows Assisted Living Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at 2 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church at 11 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Ewald was born on May 1, 1928 in Nordsteimke, Germany to Fritz & Marie (Niman) Warneboldt. He married the love of his life, Adeline “Lilly” Schroeder on December 1, 1952 in Nordsteimke and was happily married for 64 years. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2016. In 1952, Ewald and Lilly made the trip to the United States. Their journey began in Missouri and later they moved to St. Joseph. Ewald was a tool grinder at Benton Harbor Screw Company and retired from Bendix. He loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Ryan & Alyssa Krenek. He was an honorary member of the St. Joseph float committee with the title “Best St. Joe Float Driver”. Ewald mowed the lawn at Honor Credit Union for several years and spent a great deal of time at the St. Joe Kickers watching his grandchildren’s soccer games and playing German card games.
Ewald is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Warneboldt of St. Joseph and Ina (Scott) Krenek of Coloma; two grandchildren, Ryan & Alyssa Krenek; niece, Irene Waldmann and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lilly; five brothers and two sisters.
