Willard's Obituary

Willard “Will” E. Barrett, 77, of Stevensville passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville. Per Will’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Michigan Humane Society or to Animal Aide of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Those wishing to sign Will’s Guest Book may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Will was born on October 31, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN to Willard E. & Tobitha (Oakerson) Barrett. He attended Greenfield high school, and went on to join the United States Marine Corps in 1957 where he proudly fought for his country in Vietnam.  Will married Nancy Dutcher on November 24, 1972 at the Lakeshore Baptist Church in Stevensville, MI. Will worked as a Real Estate agent for 21 years; he worked for several real estate agencies in the area before retiring from Core Real Estate in 2006. He was the Multiple Listing System President in 1995 and he was also the President of Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors. In Will’s spare time he enjoyed playing pool and building model airplanes. He was part of the Whirlwinds of Southwest Michigan, a remote control flying club. Will is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Barrett; brother Dave (Kathy) Barrett of Greenfield, Indiana and sister Sondra Beckley of Noblesville, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Will was preceded in death by his parents; Brother, James Paterson Barrett; sisters, Mary Amanda Barrett & June McDole.
