Mary M. Meyers

Mary M. Meyers, 61, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Universityof Chicago Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Fr. Thomas McNally officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph.  Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Liturgical Prayers recited at 5:45 P.M. Mary was born June 4, 1954 in St. Joseph to Thomas N. & Jacquelyn M. (Moore) McAllister. She graduated from Niles High School in 1972 and attended Western Michigan University.  On February 11, 1978 she married Michael P. Meyers in New Orleans, LA.  He preceded her in death February 27, 2004.  Mary was formerly employed at Lakeshore Marble in Stevensville and was currently employed at Whirlpool Corp. in Benton Harbor for the last twelve plus years.  Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an avid Notre Dame fan.  In her free time, she enjoyed studying her family genealogy, puzzles, reading and trivia.  Mary lived for others and gave her love unconditionally to her family & many friends.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary is survived by her children-Megan (Morgan) Monfort of Newport News, VA, Michael (Sarah) Meyers of Mechanicsville, VA; five grandchildren-Elijah, Layla & Kaitlyn Newman, Clara & Cayla Monfort; her sister Maureen (David) Petersen of Glen Ellyn, IL; nephews Ryan & Aidan Petersen; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas on October 8, 2004 and her mother Jackie on May 25, 2015.
