Patricia “Patty” L. (Hillard) Young, 48, of Coloma lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center – St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Saron Evangelical Lutheran Church, 510 Main St., St. Joseph, with Pastor Joan Oleson officiating. A private burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Friends may visit with the family from 5 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Patty was born on January 23, 1968 in Kalamazoo, MI to Charles & Rosemarie (Hageman) Hillard. On November 5, 2011, Patty married the love of her life, David Young. The two of them loved to be outside in nature whether it was their yearly cruise through the islands, snowmobiling, mountain biking or taking walks on the beach or pier.  Patty also loved her nieces, nephews and animals; especially her dog, Sadie. Patty is survived by her husband, David; step-children, Emma Young and Bryce Collins; siblings, Maribeth (Bruce) Stanley, Roz (Michael) Linsea, Michael (Pam) Hillard, Terri (Celso) Perez, Robert (Kass) Hillard, and Laura Risdon; and nieces & nephews, Kyler, Jenna, Jane, Jon, Jocelyn, Karylle, Jason, William, Ben, Torrion, Joe and Jessica. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosemarie.
