Robert's Obituary
Robert Franklin Umbenhaur, 83, of Benton Harbor and Inverness, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Inverness, FL.
Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Private burial has taken place at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Robert was born May 16, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Benjamin & Violet (Scholz) Umbenhaur. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Robert was employed for several years as a police officer for the City of Niles in the late 50’s & early 60’s until he gained employment with Berrien County Juvenile Court as a Hearing Officer, until his retirement in 1985 after twenty plus years. On January 2, 1986, Robert married the former Janice Ruhl in St. Joseph. Robert was an active life member of the Blossomland FOP Lodge #100, and the Free & Accepted Masons. In his free time, Robert volunteered with the St. Joseph Township Neighborhood Watch Program, enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends, and playing cards
Robert is survived by his niece Cindy Bobo of Santa Ana, CA; two nephews-David Umbenhaur of Buchanan, MI, Gary Umbenhaur of Inverness, FL; and his brother-in-law Gary Ruhl of Baroda. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice on March 24, 2013, his sister Lois Bobo & his brother Ellery Umbenhaur.
