Shirley Yvonne Graeber

Shirley Yvonne Graeber, 89, of Stevensville, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Petrona’s Country Home in Baroda. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 21, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Pastor Noah Headrick officiating. Shirley was born on February 3, 1927 in Kalamazoo, MI, to Charles & Ruth (Fisher) Atwood.  She graduated from Benton Harbor High School.  On October 24, 1953, she married Gustav Otto Graeber at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor.  Shirley spent her lifetime working in the banking business and was the first female branch manager.  She retired as treasurer at People’s Savings & Loan in St. Joseph.  She was a master gardener, member of Grace Lutheran Church and former member of Kalamazoo Dunes Orchid Society. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Gustav; son Craig (Sharon) Graeber of St. Joseph; her daughter Karen (James) Wilson, Jr. of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren Brooke Wilson, Kendal Wilson, Andrew Graeber & Morgan Graeber; and her sister Marilyn Doddington.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
