Dorothy Isbrecht Carlsen, 81, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Dorothy was born October 13, 1934 in Benton Harbor to Fredrick & Olga (Reeves) Kramer. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1953 and from Nursing School at First Baptist Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Dorothy worked as an LPN at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman, Whitcomb Tower in St. Joseph, and for ten years owned & operated Rosewood Manor at her residence in St. Joseph. On April 24, 1993, she married Donald Carlsen in St. Joseph and they enjoyed twenty three wonderful years together. Dorothy was a member of First Church of God in St. Joseph.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Don; two grandchildren-Matthew Isbrecht & Rachael (Josh) Ickes; four great-grandchildren; her sister Janet Shyne of Wayland, MI; her brother Arthur (Shirley) Kramer of Coloma; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded by her first husband Leroy Isbrecht, three children-Gary Isbrecht, Gloria Isbrecht & Joan Isbrecht Heaton & siblings-Ruth Arny & Leonald “Len” Kramer.
