Nancy's Obituary

Nancy Gaynor, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph, with Dr. Robert Braman officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Michigan Great Lakes Chapter or Hospice at Home. Arrangements entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, St. Joseph. Those wishing to share a memory of Nancy online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Nancy was born February 22, 1941 in Benton Harbor to Howard and Bette (Flaherty) Christman. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. Nancy married Ronald “Ron” Gaynor on April 15, 1961 at First Congregational Church in Benton Harbor. She was employed with Beacon Employment Services from 1984 until 1996, and also worked beside her husband at their Downtown 66 Service Station in Benton Harbor. Nancy was an avid bowler and golfer, and enjoyed being a member of Berrien Hills Country Club and the Women’s Service League. She was an active member of First Congregational Church in St. Joseph. Nancy cherished being involved in all of her children’s activities and was considered their biggest cheerleader. Nancy is survived by her husband of  54 years, Ron; children, Tracy (Eric) Lipsitt of Exeter, NH, Becky (Jimmy) Dupree of Burlington, NC, and Scott (Christine) Gaynor of Mauldin, SC; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Lipsitt, Griffin, Lexie and Zack Dupree, and Lindsay and Andrea Gaynor; sister, Judy (Ron) Zacha; niece, Cathy Averill; and nephew, Mark Zacha. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
