Dorothy v Ellis

Dorothy V. (Kellick) Ellis, 88, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Dorothy was born in Blytheville, AK on July 12, 1927 to the late Claude and Lillian (Miller) Kellick. On May 27, 1942 she married William Robert Ellis. Dorothy and her husband owned and operated several establishments in the area – Club Villa in the 1960’s, Red Arrow Tap in the 1970’s, and Orchard Lounge in the 1980’s. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking-especially her famous Christmas cookies – and also ceramics and crocheting. The biggest and most important to Dorothy was the love for her family. Dorothy is survived by her husband of over 73 years – William; her two daughters – Charlotte Davenport and Donna (David) Kirby both of St. Joseph; three grandchildren – Christopher (Kristina) Lewis, Jennifer (Tim) Knapp and Richard (Christina) Knox; and six great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sat., March 12, 11:30am, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home in St. Joseph, with Chaplain Mary Shawl-Ranke officiating. Visitation is on Friday, March 11, from 5:00-7:00pm, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice At Home.
