Rose A. Bauschke, 89, of St. Joseph, MI passed away on Sat., Feb. 6, 2016 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stevensville, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph.
Rose was born in Hagar Township, MI on July 14, 1926 to the late Joseph and Rose (Spampinato) Piraino. She was a 1944 graduate of Benton Harbor High School; Sept. 28, 1963 she married Harold Bauschke; Rose worked as a service rep for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 36 years retiring in 1982; Rose then worked, for fun, with the volunteer auxiliary at Lakeland Hospital for 34 years; she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; and loved to travel.
Rose is survived by her husband of 52 years – Harold; two step-children- Thomas Bauschke of Watervliet and Nancy Simmons of Lawrence; grandchildren – Matthew Simmons and Rebecca (Jeff) Ross; great grandchildren – Ashlyn and Jason Ross; and nephew Jim (Claudia) Figlia of Eau Claire. She is preceded in death by a sister – Theresa Figlia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 Delaware St., Benton Harbor, MI on Thurs., Feb. 11, 11:30am. Visitation will precede the service at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, from 10:00am-11:00am on Thursday. Final resting place is at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Parish. Friends wishing to leave the family a message of condolence may do so at
