Rose A. Bauschke

Rose A. Bauschke, 89, of St. Joseph, MI passed away on Sat., Feb. 6, 2016 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stevensville, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph. Rose was born in Hagar Township, MI on July 14, 1926 to the late Joseph and Rose (Spampinato) Piraino. She was a 1944 graduate of Benton Harbor High School; Sept. 28, 1963 she married Harold Bauschke; Rose worked as a service rep for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 36 years retiring in 1982; Rose then worked, for fun, with the volunteer auxiliary at Lakeland Hospital for 34 years; she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; and loved to travel. Rose is survived by her husband of 52 years – Harold; two step-children- Thomas Bauschke of Watervliet and Nancy Simmons of Lawrence; grandchildren – Matthew Simmons and Rebecca (Jeff) Ross;  great grandchildren – Ashlyn and Jason Ross; and nephew Jim (Claudia) Figlia of Eau Claire. She is preceded in death by a sister – Theresa Figlia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 Delaware St., Benton Harbor, MI on Thurs., Feb. 11, 11:30am. Visitation will precede the service at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, from 10:00am-11:00am on Thursday. Final resting place is at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Parish.
