Otto Craig Hill Jr., 91, of Stevensville, MI passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Westwood of Bridgman.
A Celebration of Life service will take place 11:30 A.M. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Father James Morris officiating. Private burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 27 at the funeral home. Born to Otto & Amelia Hill on January 23, 1924. He was born into his family with five sisters and three brothers. Otto attended St. Joseph high school where he was the center for the football team. On February 14, 1944 he married his high school sweetheart Georgia May Peters. They were married for 61 years at the time of her passing. Otto served in World War II he was in the U.S. Army Medical Corp for two years and saw service in Italy. He worked for Leco Corp in St. Joseph for 37 years, as a machine set up man, making crucibles for dentists.
Otto enjoyed football, fishing, hunting, golfing, boating and bowling. He also enjoyed listening to music from the 40’s and 50’s, watching John Wayne Western’s and old war time movies. He helped build the Stevensville American Legion Post 568, he was a commander and life time member.
He is survived by his sister Ethel Hayhurst of Coloma, a son Daniel (Lucretia Harvey) Hill of Florida, a daughter Kathryn (Tate) McLaughlin of Sawyer, a son Thomas Hill of Coloma; granddaughter Heather Hill of Florida, grandson Shawn (Cory) McLaughlin of Three Oaks, grandson Kevin (Chantell) McLaughlin of Westfield, IN, granddaughter Amanda (Rick) Hodge of Elkhart, IN, and granddaughter Dana Sliter of Texas; six great-grandchildren Andrew, Brooklynn, and Chandler McLaughlin, Joseph Sliter, Alivia Hodge and Noelle McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia and his son Otto C. Hill III, four sisters and 3 brothers.
