Charles “Dick” Mohler, 87, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Dick was born February 11, 1928 in Fremont, Ohio to Charles F. & Helen (Witt) Mohler. He graduated from Fremont High School, where he participated in track & football, in 1946, attended Ohio State University and graduated from Findley College. On November 7, 1950, he married the former Mary “Pat” Coe in Fremont. Dick served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was discharged in September of 1953. Soon after the family moved to Southwest Michigan when he gained employment with Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 1995 after 39 years as an accountant. He was a member of the Whirlpool Old Timers & Whirlpool Management Club. Dick was active in the Lakeshore Little League Baseball while his sons were of age. He was in wonderful physical shape and participated once in the Chicago Marathon, twice in the Detroit Marathon, and in many other races, winning many medals. He enjoyed perch & walleye fishing on Lake Erie and time in the air piloting Cessna airplanes. He also attended Culver Military Academy.
Dick is survived by his wife Pat; his Children-Patti Tam of Gaithersburg, MD, Randy (Lena Lutsko) Mohler of Stevensville, MI, Jayma (Mike) Carrington of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Mark (Peggy) Mohler of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew (Cynthia) Mohler of Wind Lake, WI; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister Dorothy Baumann of Fremont, OH; nephew Buck (Laura) Baumann of Freemont, OH; great niece & nephew Brooke & Albert Baumann; and his feline companion Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Tommy Coe, and his canine companion Ralphie.
