Richard C Hill, 88, of St. Joseph, MI passed peacefully on December 3, 2015.
Richard Hill, or “Dick,” as close friends and family knew him, was born in Benton Harbor, MI on August 31, 1927. He was known as a kindhearted, dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His friends and family knew him as a selfless, sweet, funny man who loved going to church and singing in the choir. He was a hard worker dedicated to working with his hands. He was an employee of Firehammer Tires for 60 years, and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
He married the love of his life, Evelyn, in 1948, and they had two sons, Scott and Rick, and were married until her death in 2006.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave. with luncheon to follow. Friends may visit Monday, December 7 from 5:00 P.M until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph First United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. He is survived by his son Scott (Kim) Hill of St. Joseph and grandchildren Drew of Farmington Hills, Brittany of St. Joseph, Jamie (Ben) Miller of Benton Harbor and Christian (Dianna) of Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, sister Normalyn Pearce in 2008 and son Rick earlier this year.
