Douglas Monty

Douglas Monty, 91, of Bridgman, MI passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 9, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Shane McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.  Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Lodge 437. Those wishing to share a memory of Douglas online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Douglas was born April 13, 1924 in Benton Harbor, MI to Henry & Olga (Felgner) Monty. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in England. On July 15, 1950 he married Lakaska “May” Walker. Douglas was a flight engineer for American Airlines for 38 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and also enjoyed bird watching.  Douglas is survived by his sisters Doris Melville and Phyllis Lausman; and many nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and wife Lakaska “May” Monty.
