Gary's Obituary

The journey for Gary Blaylock has come to an end. He passed quietly in his sleep Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, following a brief hospital stay. Gary was born on June 18, 1947 in St. Joseph, MI to John and Lydia Cecil (Warren) Blaylock. “Pink”, as he was known by his close friends, graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1965. He spent most of his life working in the oil industry, at one time owning his own gas station. Gary loved life and had a passion for cooking. In his later years, he loved to cook for friends and family while bragging about his grandchildren. In his last few years, Gary was not able to get out as much as he liked, but was always with his best friend and companion, his dog Regi. Gary is survived by his children, Rodney (Michele) Blaylock of Stevensville and Chris (Stephanie) Blaylock of Watervliet, his grandchildren Jacob, Tatyanna, and Skyler; sisters Bonnie (Jack) Nichols of Joplin, MO, Betty Durham, Judy (Roy) Disterheft and Shirley Arnold, all of Eau Claire; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ted Blaylock and Billy Blaylock, and his sister Leona Coggins. A private service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice at Home Inc., 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI, 49085. Arrangements entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, St. Joseph.
