Erna Ruth Saurbier

Erna Saurbier, 97, of Benton Harbor passed away peacefully Monday, November 2, 2015 at her daughter and son-in-law’s, Janice and Henry D’Agostino, home. Erna was born in Benton Harbor on February 13, 1918 to Alma and Art Raeder. She married Kenneth M. Saurbier in June of 1936. Together they had two children, Janice and Jim. Erna is survived by her daughter, Janice (Hank) D’Agostino of Benton Harbor; son, James (Connie) Saurbier of Stevensville, MT; sister, Bernice Lutz of Niles; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; six nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Ellen Saurbier. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lucille Holt and Blossom Jones; and her husband of 70 years Kenneth Saurbier According to Erna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Final resting place will be North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services.
