Iris J. Demorrow, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, on the corner of Court and Market Streets, St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Iris was born September 4, 1937 in Benton Harbor to John P. and Emma V. (Archer) Meyer. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1955. On July 6, 1984 Iris married Donald L. Demorrow in St. Joseph. Over the years she was employed with Whirlpool Corporation and at Holiday Inn in St. Joseph as a Desk Clerk. Iris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and proudly displayed her love for the Lord with a cross in her front yard that cited “God is Love.” She was the best mom and grandma her family could ask for. Iris enjoyed walking her dog, Bruno, all over town in her power chair. The family greatly appreciates the care given to Iris by Area Agency on Aging and Hospice at Home.
Iris is survived by her children, Tammy Strauss of Coloma, Katherine Zimmerle and David Werner both of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Ashley Werner, Heather Zimmerle, Holly (David) Higuera, Michael Zimmerle and Melissa Zimmerle; great-granddaughter on the way, Isabella Grace Higuera; siblings, John Meyer, Immanuel Meyer, Loretta Fortune and Sharon Curtis all of Benton Harbor, Cynthia (Gary) Rose of Berrien Center, Margo Witt of St. Joseph, and Linda Ross of Granger, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Bruno.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Meyer; mother, Emma Meyer Lockwitz; stepfather, Albert Lockwitz; and husband, Donald, on November 2, 2008.
