Akyra A. Brumfield, 14, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Lakeland Medical Center- St. Joseph. A Celebration of Home Going Service will be held 12:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Bishop James Atterberry officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Akyra was born July 13, 2001 in St. Joseph, MI to Mark Anthony & Laquita (Curry) Brumfield.  She was a freshman at Berrien Springs High School. Akyra enjoyed playing the trumpet in band and baking in her spare time. She had a winning personality and an amazing smile which touched all who were in her presence. She is survived by her parents; sister Alyssa Brumfield; brother Anthony Brumfield; grandparents Larry (Diana) Davis of Benton Harbor, Ruth Curry of Pontiac, MI, and Tommy Woods of Benton Harbor; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Marquita Brumfield.
