Kenneth “Gus” Gustafson, 61, of Coloma, MI passed away Tuesday August 18, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Saron Lutheran Church, 510 Main Street, St. Joseph with Joan Oleson officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.  Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.  Those wishing to sign Gus’s Memory Book online may do at www.starks-menchinger.com. Gus was born on August 26, 1953 to Edward and Mary (Cunningham) Gustafson.  He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1972, then attended Lake Michigan College for a degree in Law Enforcement.  This led him to become the Police Chief for the City of Coloma, he then worked for the City of Watervliet Police Department.  He belonged to the Coloma FOP 147. Gus’s favorite past time was watching sports such as the Knicks, Giants, Rangers and Yankees and listening to the beach boys.  He also enjoyed playing hockey throughout his whole life. Gus is survived by his son  Dylan Gustafson of St. Joseph; Dylan’s half-sisters Megan Daugherty of Coloma and Alyssa Wilson of Baroda; his brother Dan Gustafson of St. Joseph; a nephew Andy (Kylee Mudd) Gustafson  and a niece Mary Kay (Allan) Brown  of Schaumburg, IL; great-niece Julia Elizabeth Brown and great nephews: Nathan Brown and Parker Gustafson. Gus is preceded in death by his parents.
