John Soos Jr., 98, of St. Joseph, MI and New Port Richey, FL passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stevensville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service.  A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Association. Those wishing to share a memory of John online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  John was born October 25, 1916 in Hammond, IN to John & Theresa (Odor) Soos. He graduated from Bridgman High School and was Valedictorian of his class. John served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946 during the Pacific Theater of WWII. On July 26, 1936 he married Vivian Robbins in La Port, IN. John worked for Whirlpool Corp. for many years then bought Bridgman Country Club and Bowling Alley which is know Pebblewood County Club. John was also an Insurance agent for Alexander Hamilton. In his spare time he enjoyed thoroughbred racing at Tampa Bay Downs and golfing.  John is survived by his son John (Gail) Soos III of Benton Harbor; two grandchildren John (Kathryn) Soos IV of Ocala, FL and Todd (Noreen) Soos of Berrien Springs; three great grandchildren Alex & Austin Soos and Chase Long; and companion Eleanor Wolf.  John was preceded in death by his wife Vivian on May 1, 1989, parents and sisters Helen Lowry and Julia Boyd.
