Jane E. Cuthbert

Jane Elizabeth (Miller) Cuthbert, 80, of Stevensville, passed away, Thursday, August 6, 2015 at her home. Celebration of Life  Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Friday, August 14 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. David Hills officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at Home or Stevensville United Methodist Church.   Those wishing to sign Jane’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jane was born August 14, 1934 to Forest and Nellie (Brown) Miller at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor, Michigan.  Jane attended Benton Harbor Schools graduating in 1952. Jane also attended Mercy Hospital Nursing School before starting her family.  Jane loved her family and music. She directed the Choirs at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus for many years.  Her  home was always open to family, friends and neighbors. The kitchen was always filled with the aroma of home cooking especially her cinnamon rolls, pies and meals made with love.  Music, laughter and the chaos of a large family were ever present.  After raising 6 children, Jane went back to college to work in the medical field spending the last 12 years of her career working for Hospice at Home, a job she truly loved, until retiring in 2002. Jane is survived by her partner of 25 years Robert Bender, her children Victor (Deb) Cuthbert Jr., of Dowagiac, Elizabeth (George) Bush of Benton Harbor, William (Michelle) Cuthbert of Indianapolis, IN., Gayle Hofbauer of Stevensville, Kathy (Lee) Thayer of Trinity, FL., Mark Cuthbert of Denver, CO. Sister Carol (Ron) Momany, former Husband Victor Cuthbert Sr., 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sister Constance Mathai and brother Forest Jr., daughter In-law Christine Cuthbert, great-grandson Liam Cuthbert.
