John's Obituary
John W. Leeger, 71, of Stevensville, MI went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his residence.
John was born August 1, 1944 in East Chicago, Indiana to John Henry and Myrtle Lucille Leeger (Webb).
After his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1970, he resided in Virginia. He moved to Michigan to be near family several years ago and was an active member of the Stevensville United Methodist Church, the Kalamazoo Men’s Chorus, and has been involved with the Sneedville, TN mission through the Centerville United Methodist Church in Virginia for many years. John authored 2 books. The first, “One In A Hundred” about his time in the U.S. Army and the second, “The Walk That Wasn’t” about his ‘walk’ home to Michigan from his last Sneedville mission trip. John was known as Your Music Librarian after writing a computer program to catalog music which is now used by many groups around the country. John always had a story or joke to tell or a little known fact to recite. He made friends everywhere he went and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children, Joshua (Katerina) Leeger and Bree Bird; grandchildren, Lily, Viola, and Oliver; brother, William (Susan) Leeger; nephews, Mike (Lisa) Leeger, Adam Leeger, Christopher Robertson and David Robertson; nieces, Dawn (Thom) LaVoy and Becky Leeger; and a host of great nieces and nephews who called him “Grandpa John”.
