Ethel Mae Lombardo

Ethel Mae Lombardo, 93, of St. Joseph, MI passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.   Ethel was born on November 28, 1921 in Reamstown, PA to the late Harry and Anna (Morgan) Swartz. Ethel graduated from Ephrata High School and Reading Hospital School of Nursing in Reading, PA. During World War II, she served our country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Ethel married Peter Gino Lombardo on April 29, 1946 in Ft. Picket, VA.   Ethel is survived by her three daughters – Anna (Rev. Paul) Daniel of Kingman, AZ, Mary (Stephen) Zanto of St. Joseph, MI, and Nancy (Kim) Weber of Decatur, MI; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary North of Glendale, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Dr. Curtis Swartz.   A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on August 1, 2015 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085.  Ethel’s final resting place will be at the V.A. National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix, AZ.
