Mary June Mathenia

Mary J. Mathenia, 85, of Benton Harbor passed away Thursday, July 02, 2015 at her home. Mary was born December 27, 1929 in Morris, IL to Harold & Lois Magner. She was a graduate of Morris High School. Mary wed Daniel Mathenia. She worked with her mother as an assembler at the Voice of Music in Benton Harbor in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  Mary enjoyed doing puzzles, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She is survived by her sons Thomas (Brenda) Mathenia of St. Joseph and Mike “Dennis” Mathenia of Honolulu, HI; daughter Deborah Abe of Honolulu, HI; four grandchildren; great granddaughter Kinley Rhae and brother Chuck (Janet) Magner of IN/FL; and her  friend Lee “Leroy”.  She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel and grandson Brandon Keith Mathenia. A Private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
