June was born June 19, 1915 in Cairo, Ohio to Daniel and Ruah (McCarty) Harpster, Jr.  She married her sweetheart, Warren Muchmore, on Valentine’s Day in 1942. June supported education her whole life. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University (Ohio) in 1936, when it was uncommon for women to attended college. She was active in the YWCA and Mortar Board Honor Society. She later earned a Master of Arts in Education from Andrews University graduating Magna Cum Laude. For thirty years June was an English teacher starting in her native Ohio and continuing her career in Michigan, where she finished her teaching career at St. Joseph High School. She was proud to be the founder of The Reading Lab at St. Joseph High School. She was a member of both Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and DV Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. June was a woman of family, faith and education. She was a charter member of the Fairplain Presbyterian Church where she remained an active lifelong member. In 1967 June and Warren bought a cottage on Mullett Lake in Northern Michigan. June and Warren loved spending time up north. Later in life she took great joy in knowing her family still enjoys the cottage every summer. “Grandma June” was greatly loved by her family. She was an eloquent, educated woman and she taught her grandchildren much of the manners and etiquette they practice to this day. In recent years she spent her time reading, taking part in book clubs, doing crosswords puzzles to keep her mind sharp, and spending time with her friends and family. June is survived by her son Lee (Patrica) Muchmore of Stevensville; grandchildren, Curt Muchmore of St. Joseph, Allie Muchmore of Boston, MA, and Terra (Brad) Boeker of Peoria, IL; great grandchildren, Caroline Shelton and Zoe Boeker. June was preceded by her parents, husband Warren, and sister Carol Osborne.
