May Belle Deuel, 86, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Wade Panse officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Cancer Society. May was born May 12, 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI. On January 25, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Warren Deuel in St. Joseph, Michigan. May was the administrator at the Whitcomb for 28 years before retiring at the age of 79. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Today and the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Elks Club #541. May was a member of the yacht club and enjoyed boating , for many years, with her husband Warren. She was Admiral of the Venetian Festival. May liked to read, enjoyed traveling, and loved spending time with her family.
May is survived by her husband Warren of 68 years; children, Susan (Jack) Franklin of Stevensville, Sarah (Michael) Shembarger of Berrien Springs, and Sharon (Larry) Gordon of Portage, MI; grandchildren, Darcy Osborn, Emily Hankins, Caleb (Dianna) Gordon, and RachaelFaith Gordon, Matt (Heather)Shembarger, Scott (Candace)Shembarger; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Karlyn, Graham, Marlie, Maya, Kamdyn, Kennedy and Maddex; one great-great grandchild on the way and numerous nieces and nephews. May was preceded in death by her mother Mary Pearle Anglin and grandson Douglas Tod Osborn.
