James's Obituary

James Morton Case, 95, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Pine Ridge in Stevensville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Noah Headrick officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph.  Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.  Those wishing to share a memory of James online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. James was born April 16, 1920 in Jackson, MI to Morton and Catherine (Woods) Case.  He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1938.  He then attended Western Michigan University before being drafted into the United States Army where he served from 1941 to 1945 as a Sergeant during WWII.  During his duty he was a Golden Gloves boxer and an Army Champion.  On June 15, 1946, James married his beloved wife Marian Johnson in Benton Harbor. James worked as an Advertising Manager for the Herald Palladium from 1953 until 1988. In his spare time he loved to golf and played until he was 80 years old. James is survived by his wife Marian of 68 years; children, Linda (Don) Litke of St. Joseph, Ciry (Jerry) Harwood of Albany, Oregon, Eloise (Steven Gerber) Harris of St. Joseph, Tim (Donna) Case of St. Joseph and Tony (Kami Noel) Case of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Lainie (George) Von Behren, Mandy (Jason) Scheffler, Tracy Harwood, Sean (Luzelva Diaz) Harris, Kylie Harris, Jessica (Jason) Flowers, Joni Case, Shannon Murphy, Heather Harris and Doug (Lisa) Litke; great-grandchildren, Melaina, Garrett, and Maylee Von Behren, Jaxon and Mason Flowers, Von, Kurtis, and Blake Scheffler, Kane Harris Allix Murphy, Cameron and Keaton Litke.  James was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother and two sons-in-law Steven Howard and David Harris.
