Irene D. Krieger

Irene D. Krieger, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Appledorn Assisted Living Center in Holland, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Sts., St. Joseph, with Rev. Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Irene was born April 4, 1922 in Stevensville, Michigan to Henry & Huldena (Tober) Rochau .  She applied for a position at JC Penney’s in Benton Harbor and was hired by Earl Krieger who on May 14, 1949 became her husband in Stevensville.  After several years of employment, Irene left the work force to start her family. After the boys were grown, she returned to work at St. Joseph Savings & Loan in 1967, retiring in 1984.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Adult Bible Study & Women’s Fellowship. Irene was also a member of Stevensville American Legion Post # 568 Women’s Auxiliary.   She cherished the time spent with her family. Irene is survived by two sons-David (Loretta Sue) Krieger of Holland, MI and Douglas (Sue Wielgopolan) Krieger of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren Todd Krieger and Cailley Krieger. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl on December 16, 2014, her parents, and her brother Arthur Rochau.
