Julia A. Nicholas, 91, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Father William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a rosary service at 7 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will take place at Lakeshore Cemetery in Hagar Township, MI. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or SS John & Bernard Parish. Julia was born on August 11, 1923, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Theresa (Pica) and Antonio Angelo, Sr. Julia married the love of her life James Nicholas, Sr. on April 12, 1947 in Benton Harbor. She was a proud member of SS John & Bernard Parish. Julia volunteered her time helping the church by joining their Altar Society and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Service. She was a homemaker, an amazing cook and took great pride in caring for her family, especially her loving grandchildren. Julia enjoyed gardening, primarily sweet potatoes. When she was not with her family or in her garden she enjoyed playing Bingo, or trips to the casino.
Julia is survived by her children James (Jennifer) Nicholas, Jr. of Benton Harbor, and Rose Ann Nicholas of Watervliet; grandchildren, Laurence (Matthew) Nicholas, Scott (Joanna) Adams, Jamie (Cameron) Nicholas, Tandy (Andrew) Ulleg, and Heather (Chad) Case; twelve great grandchildren; siblings, Joseph and Michael Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Frank, Tony, George and Henry Angelo; and sister, Rose Sobczyk.
