James “Paul” Looney, 70, of Bridgman, MI went home to be with the LORD Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Berrien County Baptist Church,  5940 St. Joseph Ave., Stevensville with Pastor James K. Whitman officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Baptist Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Paul online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com  Paul was born March 11, 1945 in Alexandria, VA to Thurlo “Rich” & Ethel (Sisk) Looney. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1963. On August 24, 1963 he married Betty Pierce in Benton Harbor. They were blessed with 51 wonderful years together. Paul worked at Gast manufacturing as a machinist for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing chess and listening to Elvis. He also was a Ham Radio Operator and had his General Class License.  He was admired, respected and loved.  Paul is survived by his wife Betty Looney; son Dennis (Renee) Looney; daughter Lorie (Michael) Bronson; six grandchildren Rhiannon & Jacob Looney, Alex, Evie, Jason, Ethan Bronson; brothers John Looney and Gary (Terry) Looney; sister Barbara (Douglas) Phillips; aunt Elizabeth Monroe; and many nieces & nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
