Richard Lentz

Richard Lentz, 72, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, with his family by his side.  A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Noah Headrick officiating.  Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, MI or Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.  Those wishing to sign Richards Memory book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Richard was born April 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL, to Erwin and Della (Fenrich) Lentz. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1960, and then went on to graduate from Ferris State University. On August 1, 1964 Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Lois Steinke, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. He was a project manager with Zenith Data Systems for 32 years, and has also worked at JohnsonRauhoff, Weldon International, and Nelson Specialties. Richard was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, including serving as president and many other offices. He had many passions in life: some of which included sailing, fishing and anything to do with water, as well as riding his motorcycle, and music. Richard loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed family vacations at Silver Lake. He had an amazing sense of humor, and an uncanny ability to fix or build almost anything. Richard is survived by his wife Lois Lentz; son, Rick Lentz; daughters, Michelle (Mark) Boelcke and Kristi (Armando) Cajina; grandchildren, Jessica Boelcke, Eric Boelcke, Carrie Boelcke, Ellie Cajina, Massimo Cajina and Zoey Cajina; brother, Donald (Heather) Lentz; other family members, Jeff and Alex Gammill; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Erwin Lentz.
