Rick S. Lawrick

Richard S.  “Rick” Lawrick, 62, of St. Joseph, passed away, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Richard Sing officiating.  Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Rick was born June 2, 1952 in Benton Harbor to Richard W. & Mary (Dulko) Lawrick.  He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1971 and earned a Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University.  Rick was employed at Rohring’s Clothing at the Fairplain Plaza, as a substitute teacher for Benton Harbor Area Schools, at Heritage Farms in Benton Harbor, at Whirlpool Financial of Benton Harbor, and for P&M Pumpkins in Berrien Springs.  Rick was a member of Twelve Corners Community Church in Benton Harbor, where he was an honorary member of the Ladies Circle-to which he always escorted his Mother and assisted in the Christmas Stockings for the Troops project.  He was an active member of the Benton Harbor-Fairplain Lions Club where he was past president, on the board of directors and served on the vision screening committee. Rick volunteered at the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center, the Salvation Army and was always willing to help anyone in whatever way he could, wherever he was.  His kind and giving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rick is survived by two brothers-Gregory (Sue) Lawrick of Apex, NC, Michael (Pam) Lawrick of Berrien Springs; two nephews-Nicholas & Stephen Lawrick; a special cousin Mary Lou Braley of St. Joseph; and his special friend Jerry (Carol) Orlaske of St. Joseph.  He was preceded by his father Richard on June 20, 2001 and his mother Mary on November 22, 2013.
