Reinhold Hartwig, 77, of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Hanson Hospice Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, February 21 at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Drive, St. Joseph with Rev. Scott Reeve officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5-8 P.M. Friday, February 20 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Reinhold was born November 17, 1937 in Volinia, Ukraine to Edmund and Pauline (Radtke) Hartwig. The family moved to the United States in Bridgman in 1954. He married Ingrid Bansen on January 28, 1961 in Benton Harbor. Reinhold was a Tool & Die maker at Bosch, retiring in 2002. He served as a Deacon at Oakridge Baptist Church and was a member of the Men’s Choir. Reinhold played soccer and was a member of the SJ Kicker’s Club. He enjoyed bird watching and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Bears, and Lakeshore Lancers. Most of all, he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid; his sons, Rick (Connie) Hartwig of Stevensville and John (Jennifer) Hartwig of Augusta, MI; daughter, Regina (Paul) Schlaff of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Kelsey (Dale) Zielke, Peyton Hartwig, Erich (Sarah) Hartwig, Adam Hartwig, Eli Hartwig, Brett Schlaff, and Kyle Schlaff; brother, Herbert (Colleen) Hartwig of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and sisters, Frieda Switlik of Bridgman, Sina (Art) Spitzke of Lapeer, MI, Hedy Brunkel of Dowagiac, Erika (Werner) Riedel of St. Joseph, and Trudy Reed of Harriman, TN.
Reinhold was preceded in death by his parents.
