Tonie R. Machurick, 53, of Berrien Springs, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Rev. Jim Gray officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Tonie was born October 22, 1961 in Benton Harbor to Roman A. & Donna Jean (Conrad) Machurick. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1979. Tonie learned the tiling business from his father and went on to work for 37 years as operator of his own tile business. Tonie married Deborah Whitney on May 1, 1982 in Niles. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially cherished his granddaughter. Tonie will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He was known as a jack-of-all-trades and was always helping and serving others.
Tonie is survived by his wife, Deborah Machurick; children, Laura (Garrett) Zick of St. Joseph, and Steven (Staci Scott) Machurick of Niles; granddaughter, Aubrey Zick; father and stepmother, Roman (Donna) Machurick of Berrien Springs; mother, Donna Jean (Conrad) Machurick of St. Joseph; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Judith Whitney of Holland, MI; sisters, Sandra Schaefer of Battle Creek, MI, Diana Schmaltz of St. Joseph, and LuAnn (Mark) Nicol of Austin, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Tonie was preceded in death by his twin sister Tamie Jean Machurick in 1973, and brother-in-law Bill Schaefer in 2002.
