Josephine Louise Ott

Josephine L. (Berndt) Ott, 93, of Baroda, MI passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. Johnathon Kruschel officiating.  Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Church Building Fund.  Those wishing to sign Josephine’s guestbook may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com Josephine was born May 11, 1921 in Bridgman, Michigan to Robert and Lillian (Gieke) Berndt.  She married Fred Ott on December 7, 1939 in Bridgman.  Josephine worked as a technician at Leco for over 30 years. Taking care of her family was very important to her and she was devoted to them.  She did not have many activities outside the home because while still capable she felt the need to take care of those around her. Josephine was survived by her son-in-law Fred Alten of St. Joseph; grandchild Fred Alten of St. Joseph; step grandchildren Patrick Bicanich and Sean Grall; a live in companion Maureen Grall; sister-in-laws Sis and Pauline Ann; and a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillian; husband Fred; daughter JoAnn Alten; brothers Robert and Gordan; and sister Kathrine Somers.
