L. Bernice Wolf
Bernice Wolf died January 14, 2015. She was born August 23, 1913 in Mohawk, MI. Her parents were Alfred and Susanna Anderson. They were immigrants from Finland. Her father was a copper miner. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was the last survivor.
Her Family moved from Mohawk, MI to Chicago, IL in the early 30s where at Austin High school she met her husband Adolph Wolf who preceded her in death on December 16, 1994. She and her husband raised 4 children in Elmwood Park, Illinois and they survive her. Suzanne (William) Marrs of Downers Grove, Illinois, Sandra (Ronald) Jensen of Englewood, Florida, Pamela (Michael) Marrs of Stevensville, and Philip (Beryla) Wolf of Denver, Colorado. She had 9 grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
She was an accomplished artist. Her primary medium was acrylic, oil, and water colors. She also would craft an occasional sculpture. She studied at The Art Institute in Chicago and summers in Saugatuck at artist retreats. Her works adorn the walls of her family and many friends and patrons in the Niles-Buchanan Community where she lived with her husband after relocating from Illinois in 1961. She was active in that community, belonging to many clubs and organizations.
She moved to Woodland Terrace in 2006 where she lived until her death. She was loved and well taken care of by her family and her care givers. She remained active until just before her death. She had a sharp wit, sarcasm and sense of humor. She will be missed.
According to her wish there will be no service for her and cremation has been taken place.
